Ask in official HU forums. That's the only fix I've ever heard and it worked for Strife.

ok i'm dl'ing not sure when i'll get up and running but what suggestions on first char?

I played HU about two years ago and I only played Barbs (zerkers, to be exact). Many bosses cast IM and since player damage is greatly increased (to somewhat compensate for huge monster life increases), WW/Conc/Frenzy vs. IM = bad. I'm planning on going Zerk again, but many things have been changed since I played last so I'm really not sure what to expect.

Check out the official forums to see what people are doing. Apparently, golem necros are good as you can have all four out at once.

By the way- Act 1 mercs OWN! They cast multishot and with helm/armor each with 3 max dmg jewels, they do way more dmg than my barb.

And gambling is blatantly abuseable- gamble wands/staves/scepters for ~2k and sell for max sell value (as long as the have +individual skills) FTW!

Do max dmg jools add dmg to smite? cuz i wanna make a smiter

I could be wrong, but I believe max damage jewels are treated as if that damage was on your weapon, even if it comes from your helm/armor.

smiters need crushing blow not +dmg

Well +dam jools are only good for the early levels, anyway, especially as it's harder to find much higher than +9.

well i got it installed but i'm sutck w/out hc how do you guys get it after fresh install each time? i remember some regedit key or something but i tried to search how the hell do you guys find past posts anyways, do you just have them bookmarked already from the first time you read them?

1) Right click on desktop and choose "create new text document"
2) Press F2 to rename the document "allowhc.reg" or something similar (make sure that you're not naming it ".reg.txt" or something silly to that extent)
3) Right click on that file and choose "edit"
4) Copy and paste the below into it, then save changes;
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Diablo II]

5) Double click on the file, select yes you do want to add the information, and OK afterwards
6) Proceed to create HC characters at your leisure
