if someone still has the MPQ files from d2classic or KBE I think I can make the server up with PVPGN

Looks like I will edit it myself and mod 1.09 down to 1.06

I found ressources to do it, will go through patch notes to try to revert as much as possible

Here is a quick list, feel free to add anything you feel needed

Fix suffixes to 1.06 like -40req and lvl requirements to use and spawn suffixes. Kings was lvl 29 and changed to 54 or so, this needs to be fixed

No cast delay, ex: frozen orb

Remove monster immunities

Restore full life leech mana leech , it was halfed at xpack

Remove unique lvl req

Revert resist penalty in nm and hell on char sheet


Thats a quick list for now, From what I read so far all this can be done simply, I doubt too many challenges in the way!

ax any movement on this? I'm willing to help in whatever move I can. I've asked around to a couple of dev's on the d2 mods ive been playin still and nothing really. I know if I keep digging through the chats etc I'll find something.


I would be totally game to help split costs of a server haha.

no update so far, but it is a work I intend to do to make the mod, then test server at home (not HC because server will be shut down too often) and then move server to a stable place, perhaps a friends house still no idea.

I started moding some files, fixed lvl req on suffixes and affixes, removed lvl req of unique items, I am working on harder stuff that is hard coded right now to get it out of the way, nothing seems impossible so far

I just received kbe mod files from the last person to run a server!!! Sick!!!
Just need to setup server now!

Managed to get bnet server working on local comp
Now need to get d2 server to work, when i do i will get a linux box to run on stable static ip. Sadly moving in one week, I expect this project to go live within a month!

i got pvpgn to run, but it's 4 servers
bnetd works (main bnet server)
d2cs and d2dbs (character info and stuff won't start)
d2gs starts (game server) but without other two no idea if works correctly,

Still learning, bits here and there, once I get it covered I'll get it going!

It should cost about 100$ a year, if it works well I'll ask for donations to cover the server if it can be a success and keep it going

I will most likely play and contribute.

Got at least another month work free @ home. Been playing POD for over a month (VERY nice but no pvp) and moving to Project Diablo 2 at launch on Nov 6..it looks fucking great maybe you can use some of the ideas to improve yours as well.
